The shortlist for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize is set to be announced next Wednesday (September 11th).
One of the year's main talking points, the Barclaycard Mercury Prize is rumbling into sight once again. Last year, alt-j stole away with the trophy, helping to rocket debut album 'An Awesome Wave' into mainstream contention.
With another 12 months of music to analyse, the Barclaycard Mercury Prize committee are now almost ready to unveil the shortlist. The full list of nominations will be unveiled next Wednesday (September 11th) during a special ceremony at the Hospital Club in London.
Lauren Laverne is set to reveal the nominations, with highlights due to be broadcast on Channel 4 at 12.10am on the night of September 12th. The television show itself will be hosted by Nick Grimshaw, with special live performances due from nominated artists.
The launch will then be followed by a series of live shows, featuring artists named on the shortlist. Tickets for the 'Albums of the Year Live' events will be made available through competitions and a special ballot system, with succesful fans required to donate £10 to War Child in order to secure their passes.
