“We met after Russ puked on my shoes outside a club. I was all set to box his ears when I noticed he was nearly in tears as he’d also puked on his Devo t-shirt. We then just started bumping into each other out and about and after several inebriated conversations about music thought we should form a band,” explains David Cox, the vocal half of the British duo autoKratz.

Already being seen as one of the best new acts in dance music, autoKratz are know making waves across all musical boundaries with their style of electro mixed with a healthy dose of guitars to create a unique sound. David also plays guitar for the band while Russell describes his function by joking that he “presses buttons and switches on machines, and throws a guitar around the stage”.

We Need To Keep Moving Forward, It's The Only Way We Can Work

The band is signed to the very cool Kitsune label and this is something David feels suits them perfectly: “It’s just exactly where we knew this project would fit. The creativity within the label is something I have never seen before. From music to art and fashion, it’s really exciting to be around. The thing that strikes me is the diversity, which again is what makes the label special.” The pedigree of the label is also what sold it to Russell: “We love their input as at Kitsune you have a group of people who have been central to some of the biggest electronic projects ever, like Daft Punk, and some of the most creative people I have ever met in music.”

The band have just released a new mini album called ‘Down And Out In Paris And London’, which is a collection of their previous EPs as well as a new song called ‘Hearts’ and plan to follow it with a full and fresh debut album in the new year. “It was an opportunity to draw a line under what we’d done so far. I’m bored of bands re-releasing track after track and by the time the album drops you already have most of it,” explains Russell. “This way we can make people aware of the band, but still come back and drop our full debut album of exciting new material next year. This way it keeps it fresh and exciting for us as much as the fans. Some of these tracks have been around for a while, and as much as we love them, we need to keep moving forward and trying new things. It’s the only way we can work.”

We Met After Russ Puked On my Shoes

The band have also recently played over a hundred dates across Europe as well as a storming set at Glastonbury and the live show is well worth catching to hear the likes of ‘Stay The Same’ and the incredible ‘Pardon Garcon’. With a full complement of machines, guitars and vocals their live show is packed full with a rock ‘n’ roll style energy and creativity. With global acclaim growing by the day we implore you catch the best ever outcome of vomit-covered shoes as soon as possible.
