Ryan Lo: A Retrospective

The designer will show as part of the Southbank Centre's 'Fashion Undressed' series.

The fashion industry can be a truly exclusive place, the amount you don’t see play out on Instagram upwards of the amount you do, hence the dawn of live streaming and series’ like the V&A’s Fashion in Motion are welcome interruptions to the landscape. Topshop’s LFW residency at the Tate’s Turbine Hall for AW14 – during half term and boasting a default public gallery – genius.

The latest announcement from Ryan Lo’s studio makes for happy reading then, as the label confirms its place on the Fashion Undressed with Mastercard line-up taking place at London’s Southbank Centre this weekend. A retrospective of Lo’s work, it will cover eight seasons – including SS15, pictured above – with two catwalk shows on Saturday afternoon; and it’s free for all.

“This is a really fun and rewarding project for us, bringing together four years of hard work!” notes the Hong Kong born, London based, Fashion East alumnus. “The Southbank Centre is massively important for the development of culture in London and it’s an honour to present a retrospective there. I hope to see those new and familiar with fashion!”

Branded ‘Florals! Bunnies! Fairies!’ in reference to the label’s girlish aesthetic – pink is a key shade while lace and embroidery have featured heavily; the Frozen soundtrack carried the AW15 finale – the event is Lo’s second extra-curricular presentation of 2016, following a stint in Shanghai earlier this year alongside Fashion East’s AW16 posse.

Shows will place at 13:00 and 14:45, full details are here.
