Streetcasting is nothing new, likewise employing social media as the platform from which to cast, yet the idea that you, your other half or your BFF could strike it lucky in the fashion industry without so much as a nod from Sarah Doukas, well it’s the dream that keeps on giving.
Firm advocates of audience participation, Marques’Almeida is the latest label in need of your help.
Perhaps one of the most personable fashion brands around today – thanks to its affectionate mailouts and knack for handwritten notes – the Portuguese duo have taken to Instagram in search of a face to celebrate its fifth anniversary.
Graduates of Lulu Kennedy’s Fashion East and the BFC’s NEWGEN programme respectively, last year Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida picked up the second ever LVMH Prize, while 2015 also saw them debut their first fully independent show at London Fashion Week and design costumes for the New York City Ballet’s Fourth Annual Fashion Gala.
Which all alludes to the kind of label one would have a ball being any way involved in, right? All they ask is that you upload a pic to Instagram (accompanied by the hashtag #newMAgirls), direct message them said photo (they’re @marques_almeida, although you probably already knew that) or get in touch on good old fashioned email (address yours to [email protected]).
You have until the end of August to win yourself a place in the M’A yearbook.
