Fashion Round Up: 25/10

Departures, birthdays and videos.

As early press days have fashion editors descending on showrooms, oohing and ahhing over new season stock and making polite conversation, news remained steady this week.

Until Jil Sander made a decision that got Twitter’s juices flowing that is.

Westfield’s 5th anniversary and Paul McCartney’s new video were also up there with the Top Tweets.

On Thursday it was announced that Jil Sander was to leave her own name label – which she returned to just last year – for the third time.

She first fled the label in 2001, following a business sale to Prada in 2000, before rejoining in 2003. A year later she left again and was succeeded by Raf Simons in 2005.

Last February, after 8 years away, she returned once more when Simons headed to Dior. But now, citing personal reasons as the cause, she is to leave the designing of AW14 to the in-house design team.

As the original Westfield shopping centre – Westfield London – turns 5, five London based designers this week debuted their birthday sweatshirts for the space.

On sale from 30th October at a pop-up shop within Westfield London, Louise Gray, Thomas Tait, Sophia Webster, Richard Nicoll and duo Peter Pilotto have celebrated the anniversary with designs to be sold on behalf of Save the Children.

Both Nicoll and Gray have worked with Westfield before – Nicoll when it first opened – and are excited for the opportunity again.

And lastly Paul McCartney’s new music video. For over a week now the news of Kate Moss and Johnny Depp ‘reuniting’ has been doing the rounds – with Tumblr awash with the now almost iconic imagery of the 90s couple – but Moss isn’t the only fashionable face that appears.

Premiered yesterday, ‘Queenie Eye’ also sees cameos from models Laura Bailey and Lily Cole, designer Tom Ford and 85 year old model Daphne Selfe. You can watch it here.
