Fashion In Motion Taps Christopher Raeburn

Raeburn is the latest designer to show at the V&A.

“The Victoria and Albert Museum has always been an inspiration,” asserts Christopher Raeburn, “whether it be memories from my childhood, studies at the neighbouring Royal College of Art or recent exhibitions, it has always been relevant.”

Announced today, Raeburn is the latest designer to help uphold the esteemed museum’s relevance in contemporary culture, tapped for the V&A’s next Fashion in Motion presentation on 1st April.

“Having the opportunity to show our collections as part of Fashion in Motion is an absolute honour,” he adds of the appointment; on-going for over 15 years, his is the latest name in a line-up that includes most recently Peter Pilotto, Ashish and Grace Wales-Bonner (Vivienne Westwood and Yohji Yamamoto have also enjoyed such residency’s).

Known for being ‘Proudly Remade in England’ – both in aesthetic and attitude – the label is perhaps one of the most visible in the sustainable fashion arena, presenting four times a year at London Fashion Week and London Collections: Men as well as collaborating with heavyweights like Clarks, Barbour and, for AW16, The Woolmark Company.

“We are delighted to be showing highlights from Christopher Raeburn’s collections,” notes the V&A’s Acting Senior Curator of Fashion, Sonnet Stanfull. “He presents luxury pieces with sustainable integrity.”

Tickets for the four shows – 13:00 though to 20:00 – are free, available from 10:00 on Monday 21st March.
