Danielle Romeril x Kickers

The pair partner up for SS16.

While the label’s SS15 presentation toyed with Teva’s utility erring sandals, for SS16 Danielle Romeril has gone all out with a new Kickers collaboration.

Debuted last month at the NEWGEN designer’s London Fashion Week presentation, the new line-up borrows from the 90’s aesthetic tapped by Kickers’ earlier Topshop hook up, elevating it here with a revised silhouette and feminine colour palette.

“I dug deep into the Kickers archives and was really inspired by the shoes of my youth,” notes the designer. “Pink lady lace-ups from the 90’s and vibrant green mules all on the iconic chunky Kickers sole really caught my attention. I wanted to vibe off the sub-cultural references that have made Kickers such a big part of the street uniform of my youth.”

Elsewhere celebrating 40 years of its iconic Kick Hi (more of which, here), in Romeril’s Viviane Sassen inspired vision Kickers’ summer offering marries the contemporary with the nostalgic.

“The Danielle Romeril girl is pretty relaxed,” she continues, “she likes to throw on a pair of flats with a statement look and just go – she isn’t a ‘try hard’. So Kickers is the perfect fit from that perspective.”
