Dandy Warhols ‘Best Of’ Due

Featuring one new track

Portland based drone rockers The Dandy Warhols are preparing to release a new ‘Best Of’ collection.

The Dandy Warhols – best pun ever? Certainly one of the most arresting band names around, and thankfully the band’s music can back it up. Based in Portland the group have refined the space rock sound to produce something quite timelessly cool.

Tracks such as ‘Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth’ were virtually born with Ray Bans and a leather jacket. Lead singer Courtney Taylor has led the group for almost twenty years, with The Dandy Warhols undergoing plenty of changes.

A deal with a major label came and went, with the band have a brush with fame. Meanwhile, close friends The Brian Jonestown Massacre – itself an awesome band name – were developing a passionate hatred of their rivals.

Documented in the acclaimed documentary ‘DiG’ the relationship came apart at the seams. The Dandy Warhols survived however, despite parting company with Capitol Records back in 1997.

Now a new collection aims to showcase some of the group’s finest tracks. ‘The Best Of The Capitol Years’ does exactly what it says on the tin, collecting the band’s most recognisable offerings onto one disc.

Currently working on new material, The Dandy Warhols have added one exclusive new track to the album as a surprise for fans. ‘This Is The Tide’ is a salute to their former home as the Portland group steam off into the distance.

A great place to start for newcomers, ‘The Best Of The Capitol Years’ is a worthwhile reminder of how potent The Dandy Warhols pop touch can be.

The Dandy Warhols are set to release ‘The Best Of The Capitol Years 1995- 2007’ on July 19th. Tracklisting:
